My mother took painting classes. I looked at her first painting with my twelve year old eyes and was awestruck – magic again. How could she render that bottle, glass, fruit and drapery? (Actually the instructor did some of it, but it still seemed unbelievable.) I knew I wanted to do THAT. |

Over the years I find another level of “magic” in developing my images. It has to do with the creative process. When I am really interpreting my work in the right way, there is a source I tap into or rather a place I go to put myself into the subject of my work. It is almost an out of body experience, and time can disappear in it. It is my hope that the viewer can be transported as well, and in doing so come back to themselves refreshed. |

In my glass work and previous painting my subjects have been representational. Suggesting a story or describing a place brings another interpretational layer to the work. I am working here in the abstract dealing with the purity of composition and other formal design techniques, and it is liberating. I am excited to see where I go from here. |
