David Hockney did a wonderful series of photo collages. He took pictures of a subject from different points of view, then combined them to make cubist images. In homage to this art hero of mine, I wanted to do a portrait of him echoing the manner of those works.

I love the how spare this piece is. It adds to the mystery of its narrative, which is open ended. We invite the viewer to bring his own interpretation to this work.

We treasure calming influences in our lives. More and more this theme is represented in our work.

"Calm Waters"

The character of “Lucy” has multiple meanings. The aspect I like is of her being a guide from one realm to another, and I wanted to portray an expression of calm but wonderful knowing.

"The Girl With Kaleidescope Eyes"
48" x 48" x 1.5"D

This piece embodies movement. Yet the limbs of these young women remind us of architectural elements-spokes, struts, supports-something solid and unmoving. Water again features prevalently, and we used some different materials in its depiction. If you get a chance to see this piece in person, look for a metallic shine from mica powder in the splash.

"Arcing Entry"

A very symbolic flower is the lotus. The light plays beautifully across the petals.

I love how the braids act like a veil, but with windows. I also like the aborigine-inspired patterning that surrounds the circle.

"Carnival Figure"
24" x 24" x 1.5"D

We were commissioned to do a large version of this image and thought it was like a portrait of a flower-an appropriate addition to the other portraits we do.

We have long been attracted to using water as a subject for our glass. Blue pool water has been more typically depicted, but I wanted to do green river water and evoke that refreshing feeling of stepping into the stream bed.

This piece is very mandala like. The petals rotate, drawing your focus into the center.

This face takes many forms. Here is our version.

"Buddha"

This is an abstracted landscape image using layers of glass mounted painted frame that echoes the color changes in the glass. Translucent glass and powders were used to create the gradations.

"The Red Tree"
23" x 33" x 2"D

I really enjoy the graphic interplay between the colors and the big compositional moves in this piece. The subject is provocative as well; phenomenal ability, talent, and potential for accomplishment.

"Potential For Balance"
33" x 57" x 2"D
In this series of portraits, it is important for us to represent diversity and individuality of expression. This beautiful portrait transplants us across the globe.

The light is low in the sky, and the pale shadow of tall grass in bloom falls over the contours of this young woman’s face. The expression and the moment in time create the narrative.

We are fans of portraits and wanted to do a face in a large format. Zooming in on the face, we decided to impose a modified grid and leave it unframed. The result is a visually dimensional image with a very contemporary look. We are excited to be doing more in this series.

"Time Ahead"

John “J.B.” Murry was a primitive painter who looked through his bottle of Holy Water to view what to paint. I think that is what art should do-allow you to look at your life in a different way.

The kiss is about a specific moment frozen in time, and the glowing background reinforces that timelessness.

The dreamer is a wide eyed young girl. Superimposed on her face is an image that is a metaphor for dreams.

This portrait is superimposed over a sky and becomes a surreal image that is more of a portrait of a personality than of physical features.

Relaxed suspension shows in this face of a figure floating in water.

We have done a series of foot square faces inspired by Modigliani, and it has been inspiring to make these elongated stylized faces take form. We have given them our own names, and they are:
